what our parents have to say

Academics

Literacy

Literacy

Literacy

Elementary
At RioGAFA, literacy comes alive through high-quality texts, structured routines, and culturally responsive literature. Students build strong reading, writing, and vocabulary skills while connecting stories to music, drama, visual art, and movement—making learning both joyful and meaningful. From painting story settings to acting out character journeys, the arts bring comprehension to life. Starting in 3rd grade, students dive into a novel study each semester, building stamina, critical thinking, and a love of reading.

Middle School
Our Middle School ELA blends rich literature, student voice, and creative expression. Students explore diverse texts and complete at least one novel study each semester, deepening analysis of character, theme, and structure. Arts integration transforms learning, with projects like visual storytelling, theater, and digital media. Whether crafting a personal narrative or analyzing a speech, students connect what they read to their own lives and the world around them.

Math

Elementary Math
At RioGAFA, math is more than numbers—it’s a language for problem-solving, creativity, and discovery. Our student-centered approach helps young learners understand the “why” behind math through hands-on activities, real-world applications, and collaborative problem-solving. Arts integration brings concepts to life, with projects like creating rhythmic patterns or using visual art to explore shapes, symmetry, and measurement.

Middle School Math
In middle school, students deepen their understanding of math as a tool for critical thinking and innovation. They tackle complex concepts through engaging, real-world challenges and collaborative discussions. Arts integration enhances learning, whether designing scale models, exploring geometry through sculpture, or applying ratios in creative projects. This blend of rigor and creativity builds advanced skills, confidence, and a genuine love of learning.
